POSITION DESCRIPTION

Position Title: Software Architect/Engineer

Reports to: Development Manager

Exemption Status: Exempt

Date: July 2008

JOB SUMMARY

Architect, develop and enhance distributed software applications including back-end BizTalk business processes as well as internet applications. Drive technology and design choices on a variety of cutting edge solutions to difficult problems. In addition, position plays a critical role in early-stage research and development of new product lines and feature-sets.

Implementation/Development of Software Solutions

Build customized software to accommodate the needs of Amphire

  • Translate business requirements into an effective technical design in accordance with the Amphire architecture and framework.
  • Produce quality, well-documented code according to schedule deadlines.
  • Provide system wide design to guide modular design by software engineers.
  • Assist Development Manager with facilitation of efficient engineering process
  • Recommend appropriate development tools.

Research, Development & Training

Evaluate new technologies to impact Amphire line of business applications. Stay up to date on competing and complementary technologies

  • Characterize and document the system behavior of software.
  • Develop research and development goals to include participation in conferences, seminars, blogs and e-learning.
  • Conducts internet research and subscribes to periodicals to stay current on applicable technology.

Business Solutions

Analyze business requirements and translate business requirements into robust (adaptable) software architecture.

  • Decompose existing software and map out the module relationships.
  • Work closely with Product Management to define product roadmap possibilities.
  • Analyze the software for areas in architecture that could be improved.

Knowledge & Experience Requirements:

(Minimum qualifications required to perform the job)

  • B.A./B.S. degree in computer science or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years experience professional development experience.
  • 5+ years professional experience in the web application development.
  • 5+ years professional experience with Microsoft technologies (BizTalk 2006 experience preferred).
  • 3+ years professional experience with Microsoft .Net (C# and 2.0 experience preferred).
  • 3+ years professional experience with ASP.NET (1.1 or 2.0).
  • 3+ years professional experience with XML technologies.
  • Experience working with small development teams through the entire software development lifecycle.
  • Ability to use development methodologies based on Test Driven Development and Agile principles.
  • Demonstrated passion for learning new technologies and quickly grasping concepts in a dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrated time management practices.
